Access to quality healthcare remains one of the most pressing challenges for communities in Tana River County. At KICE, our Health and Wellness Programme works to bridge this gap — bringing essential services and health education directly to households across Kipini.
Mobile Health Clinics Reach 1,200 Residents
This quarter, KICE partnered with the Tana River County Health Department and a network of trained Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) to conduct mobile health outreach clinics across 12 villages in the Kipini ward. Over 1,200 residents received free services including maternal health check-ups, nutrition screening, malaria testing and treatment, and referrals to the nearest health facility.
Training Community Health Volunteers
Our programme has equipped 45 CHVs with skills in basic first aid, disease prevention, and health education. These volunteers serve as the first point of contact for community members and play a critical role in promoting hygiene, safe water practices, and early health-seeking behaviour.

Next Steps
KICE is working to expand the mobile clinic schedule to reach an additional 8 villages by the end of 2026. We are also developing a school health programme targeting over 2,000 primary school pupils in the area.
